CCNA R&S

CCNA is the entry-level Cisco certification and is the foundation for CCNP as well as CCIP and CCVP Certifications.

A CCNA candidate will achieve familiarity and expertise with Cisco's IOS, TCP/IP, LAN and WAN technologies and management, switching and routing protocols, the OSI model, LAN troubleshooting.

CCNA certifies that the candidate has the ability to select, connect, configure, and troubleshoot various Cisco networking devices.

CCNA Recertification
CCNA certifications are valid for three years. To recertify, either pass the current CCNA exam, or pass the ICND2 exam, or pass any 642 professional level or Cisco Specialist exam (excluding Sales Specialist exams), or pass a current CCIE written exam.

CCNA Voice 

The Cisco Certified Network Associate Voice (CCNA® Voice) validates associate-level knowledge and skills required to administer a voice networkThe Cisco® CCNA Voice certification confirms that the required skill set for specialized job roles in voice technologies such as voice technologies administrator, voice engineer, and voice manager. It validates skills in VoIP technologies such as IP PBX, IP telephony, handset, call control, and voicemail solutions.

The CCNA Voice Certification enterprise option assesses skills/knowledge related to the Cisco Unified Communications Manager 6.0 (CUCM) 6.0. It is typically employed by large organizations such as governments, large companies, and colleges. The CVOICE #642-436 exam will be required for this option.

The CCNA Voice Certification commercial option assesses skills/knowledge related to the Cisco CallManager Express (CME) and Cisco Unity Express (CUE) solutions typically used by medium & small organizations such as companies with less than 2,000 employees, retail businesses, and small school districts. The IIUC exam #640-460 will be required for this option.

On June 24th, 2009, Learning@Cisco announced program changes to the CCNA Voice certification. There will now be two options available for candidates wishing to achieve their CCNA Voice certification:A commercial option and an enterprise option.

CCNA Security

Cisco Certified Network Associate Security (CCNA® Security) validates associate-level knowledge and skills required to secure Cisco networks. With a CCNA Security certification, a network professional demonstrates the skills required to develop a security infrastructure, recognize threats and vulnerabilities to networks, and mitigate security threats. The CCNA Security curriculum emphasizes core security technologies, the installation, troubleshooting and monitoring of network devices to maintain integrity, confidentiality and availability of data and devices, and competency in the technologies that Cisco uses in its security structure.

What Do Exams Cost?

Computer-based certification exam prices range from $80 to $325 US dollars or equivalent worldwide

The ICND1 and ICND2 exams are $125 USD

The single CCNA exam is $250 USD and

The Composite exam is $300 USD (professional level CCNP and CCDP)

CCIE and CCDE written exams are $350 USD. Payment is made directly to the authorized test
delivery partner Pearson VUE

CCIE lab exams are $1,400 USD. Payment is made online via credit card or wire transfer

How to Register for an Exam

1. Decide which exam to take, noting the exam name and number (XXX-XXX). To see a complete list of active exams please refer to the Current Exams and Exam Outlines webpage for exam details.

2. Gather personal information prior to exam registration

·         Cisco Certification ID (i.e. CSCO00000001) or Test ID number

·         Company name

·         Valid email address

·         Method of payment

·         If you have ever taken a Cisco exam before please locate your Cisco Certification ID (i.e. CSCO00000001) before continuing with your registration to avoid duplicate records and delays in receiving proper credit for your exams.

·         A valid email is required during exam registration. Cisco requires a valid email to send email reminders when a candidate's certification is about to expire, confirm the mailing address before shipping out the certificate and to inform candidates if their certificate was returned due to an incorrect address.
